The following shows the responsibilities of KCC's Committee. If you see any errors or inconsistencies in the responsibilities below - please contact the KCC Webmaster.

  1. President & Vice President
    • Committment 0.5 - 4 hours per week
    • Role is elected at AGM and generally commences after KCC's presentation night (usually May each year)
    • Reports to and leads the Executive and General Committee as well as being the main focus for general enquires about the Club and should attend all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • President is to utilise Vice President whenever they need help to perform their duties. (Vice President is a full Executive Committee Member and has full authority whenever President is not in attendance or is unavailable to contact)
    • This role is a member of the KCC Race Committee, in addition to the Executive Committee.

  2. Secretary
    • Committment 0.5 - 2 hours per week
    • Role is elected at AGM and generally commences after KCC's presentation night (usually May each year)
    • Reports to the Executive Committee and generally handles all leases, official correspondence and documention and should attend all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive. Also responsible for appointing a "Public Officer" for the club.
    • Secretary is to utilise the Assistant Secretary whenever they need help to perform their duties.

  3. Treasurer
    • Committment 0.5 - 2 hours per week
    • Role is elected at AGM and generally commences after KCC's presentation night (usually May each year)
    • Reports to the Executive Committee and generally handles all financial aspects of the club and memberships and should attend all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • Treasurer is to utilise the Assistant Treasurer whenever they need help to perform their duties.

  4. Race Secretary
    • Committment 0.5 - 3 hours per week
    • Role is elected at AGM and generally commences after KCC's presentation night (usually May each year)
    • Reports to the Executive Committee and generally handles all aspects of multihull sailing/racing at the Club and should attend all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive. May also assist with Junior Monohull regattas.
    • Race Secretary is to utilise the Assistant Race Secretary whenever they need help to perform their duties.
    • This role is a member of and leads the KCC Race Committee and in most racing situations performs the role of "Principal Race Officer".

  5. Junior President
    • Committment 2 - 4 hours per week during sailing season
    • Role is elected at AGM and generally commences after KCC's presentation night (usually May each year)
    • Reports to the Executive Committee and generally handles all aspects of junior monohull membership and junior monohull sailing/racing at the Club and should attend all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • Junior President is to utilise the Junior Division Representative and parents/guardians of junior members whenever they need help to perform their duties.

  2. Boat Captain
    • Committment 3 - 6 hours per sailing event day.

    • Reports to the Executive Committee and generally handles all aspects of the Club's Support Boats and should attend all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • Boat Captain is to utilise the Duty rostered personnel, the Equipment Officer or the Race Secretary if they need help to perform their duties.
    • This role is a member of the KCC Race Committee.

    • Canteen Manager is to utilise the general membership and in particular the Officer of the Day or volunteer parents/guardians of the Juniors if they need help to perform their duties.

    • Reports to the Executive Committee and generally handles all aspects of the Club's Cruising Division and should attend all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • Cruising Division Delegate is to utilise any committee members if they need help to perform their duties.

    • Junior Division Representative are to utilise the Junior President and suitable junior monohull parents and guardians if they need help to perform their duties.

  1. Auditor
    • Committment 3 - 4 hours per year usually in March or April.
    • Role is appointed by the Treasurer after consultation with the Executive and is external to the Club's Executive and Assistant Treasurer roles. KCC financial year is 1st March to end of February.
    • Reports to the Treasurer and audits KCC's books and produces KCC's annual financial statements.
    • Auditor will utilise the KCC Treasurer and any member of the KCC Executive if they need help to perform their duties.
  2. Division Captains
    • Committment 0.5 - 2 hours per month during sailing season.
    • Role is appointed at AGM and generally commences after KCC's presentation night (usually May each year)
    • Reports to the Race Secretary and generally provides assistance to their divisions including protest committees and assistance to new sailors and optionally attends all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • Division Captains are to utilise any suitable members of their division or the Race Secretary if they need help to perform their duties.

  3. Green Keeper
    • Committment 2 - 4 hours per month (less in winter)
    • Role is appointed at AGM and generally commences after KCC's presentation night (usually May each year). If no Green Keeper is appointed in a sailing season the Equipment Officer or President shall allocate out the duties on Working Bees.
    • Reports to the Equipment Officer and looks after the lawns and greenery in the club's grounds and surrounds and optionally attends all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • Green Keeper are to utilise any suitable and available members if they need help to perform their duties.

    • Role is appointed at AGM and generally commences after KCC's presentation night (usually May each year). If no Licensee is appointed in a sailing season then no alcohol can be sold at the club.
    • Reports to the Executive and looks after all aspects of KCC's restricted alcohol licensing and optionally attends all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • Licensee are to utilise any suitable members that hold an RSA certificate and the Canteen Manager if they need help to perform their duties.

    • Reports to the Executive and looks after all aspects of KCC's website and email addresses and optionally attends all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • Webmaster are to utilise any suitably qualified members if they need help to perform their duties.

    • Reports to the Race Secretary and looks after all aspects of KCC sailing boats complying with measurements as defined in special regulations of the RRS and optionally attends all Committee, General, Annual General and Special Meetings as scheduled by the Executive.
    • YA (Australian Sailing) Auditor are to utilise any suitably qualified members if they need help to perform their duties.

The following RACI matrix is a summary of all tasks and responsibilities performed by the KCC Executive, General & Auxiliary Committee.

"Responsible / Accountable" usually performs the task or makes sure it is performed whilst "Consulted / Informed" sometimes assists in performing the task or at least needs to know about the task. Where it says "Executive" in the table below, this implies the entire Executive Committee. Where it says "Members" this implies any financial member of the Club. Where it says "General Committee" this just means the General Committee (which may or may not include the "Executive"). Committment hours in the Committee Responsibilities before this table exclude regular Committee Meetings which are usually an additional 1-2 hours per month all year. All roles have a term of 1 year. Note that Assistant roles to the Executive (eg Assistant Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Assistant Race Secretary & Junior Division Representative) are expected to stand in for the primary roles if the main Executive Member is not available.
